Pixinguinha (Alfredo da Rocha Viana, Jr.) is considered one of Brazil's greatest composers of popular music, and in particular helped to popularize the traditional genre known as the “choro” by integrating it with contemporary harmonies and rhythms. Edson Beltrami has built this attractive single-movement work for flute trio around the opening motive of one of Pixinguinha’s most famous choro arrangements, “O Carinhoso.”
Selected as a finalist in the chamber works for flute category in the 2015 National Flute Association Newly Published Music Competition.
