Trio for soprano (A3-B5), viola and piano.
Grade 5. Approx. duration: one and a half minutes.
Set consists of two performance scores and one part.
“Tarde,” a brief song for soprano, viola and piano was composed for the New Music 2000 Festival held at the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati. The piece plays with the timbre of the two instruments in contraposition to a non idiomatic vocal line that features frequent leaps and atypical intervals. The text, written by the composer, shows a static scene of tranquility, almost of boredom, which is juxtaposed against music that projects a personality of underlying anguish. Tarde was premiered in Cincinnati in the year 2000 by soprano Anissa Hartline.
