Adriana Verdié
Argentinean born composer and scholar Dr. Adriana Verdié has been commissioned to write orchestra, chamber and solo pieces, and her music has received several honors and awards in the U.S., Canada, and Argentina. Verdié’s music has been featured at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Oregon’s Ernest Bloch Festival, Cal State Summer Arts with performances by the New York New Music Ensemble and Speculum Musicae (NY), among others, and her choral music, including several award-winning pieces, is frequently included on choral concerts in Latin America.
Verdié joined the faculty at CSULB in 2003 after receiving a Ph.D. in composition from the University of California, Berkeley (2002). Additionally, she holds degrees from California State University Long Beach and the UNCuyo in Argentina, where she was an active conductor, instructor and composer. In 2013, Dr. Verdié was selected as a Fulbright specialist. Her scholarly interests center on the contemporary music by women composers, the dissemination of Latin American music and the interaction between music and literature.
