Alba Triana
Interested in expanding established meanings of musical production and experience, Triana has appropriated technological developments and elements from different artistic, scientific and philosophical disciplines. This is reflected in a hybrid oeuvre that ranges from concert music to vibrational objects. Alba’s awards include Civitella Foundation Fellowship (U.S.); IDCT National Composition Contest, National Electroacoustic Music Contest, “Otto de Greiff” National Contest, French Alliance Award (Colombia). She’s also received residencies, grants and honorific mentions from renowned institutions. Her work has been shown internationally in venues and festivals like Subtropics, College Music Society, Transforming Voices CSU, Orange County Museum (U.S.); Zilele Muzicii Noi (Moldova); Futura, Synthèse, La Colombie à Paris (France); International Contemporary Music (Colombia), among others. As a Mazda and Fulbright scholar, Triana pursued Master’s and PhD studies at CalArts and UCSD. After working as a college professor and consultant for the Colombian Ministry of Culture, she has fully dedicated herself to a career in composition.
