Set includes a score and four parts.
This single movement work for four cellos and piano was completed on October 13, 1904, about two and a half months after Brescia had arrived in Quito. Fifteen days later it was performed for the first time in that city’s Sucre Theater on a program dedicated to the memory of the fallen Ecuadorian soldiers who had died as part of a military skirmish with Peru. Of the five musicians who performed the work only two of the cellists, who were conservatory students, were identified in the local newspaper. More than likely, Brescia accompanied the group at the piano.
