Fernando Oliveira
Brazilian composer Fernando Oliveira was born in 1991 in Sorocaba (São Paulo). He began his musical studies informally, and later studied with private teachers and at the Secretariat of Culture of Sorocaba. He studied for three years (2009-2011) with a scholarship at the Conservatório Musical Rogério Koury (Sorocaba) and for two years (2012-2013) in the Dramatic and Musical Conservatory Dr. Carlos de Campos (Tatuí), participating in various workshops and master classes in the state of São Paulo. He was also a fellow of the arrangement class of the XX Brazilian Popular Music Festival - Instrumental Panel (2013), was selected to participate in the III Band Composition Week by the Tatuí Conservatory (2014) and was a guest composer at the COPIU 2014.
He has had solo, chamber and orchestral pieces read and premiered in Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Portugal, and was recently a semifinalist of the 2015 Maurice Ravel International Composition Competition.
